Decommissioning Programme

When plans have been defined, CNR International will submit Draft Decommissioning Programmes to the Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning (OPRED), part of the the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). These submissions will trigger statutory and public consultations which will be conducted by CNR International alongside regulatory consultations undertaken by OPRED.

The final Ninian Southern Topsides Decommissioning Programme was given Regulatory approval in February 2026. 

Other decommissioning programmes, for the Ninian Southern Lower Jacket and Footings, the Ninian Central Topsides and, separately, Ninian Central’s Concrete Gravity Based Substructure will be the subject of later consultations, together with relevant supporting documents such as comparative assessment reports, environmental appraisals and stakeholder reports. These will be made available in the Documentation Library for the Ninian Hub as they are published.
